Comparing the graphs of y=asinx and y=sinx

This investigation will allow you to experiment with different values of a in the equation y=asin x to see what effect it has on the graph of y=asin x.

In this investigation, there are three sections for you to explore:

  • $a > 1$
  • $a < -1$
  • $-1 < a < 1$
  • When you've completed all three sections, you'll be given a short summary of the role of a iny=asin x in the transformation of y=asin x. The investigation will conclude with a short matching exercise.
